Location, Location, Location!
Our soil is limestone-clay which adds freshness and minerality to all our wines. This soil is ideal for growing our two principal varietals – merlot and cabernet franc. The vines have deep roots that love seeking water and connecting with all the plant and animal networks that have existed in the soil for centuries.
We respect the environment as well as care for our vines by following an organic growing process – artificial chemicals and pesticides are never used in our vineyard. We treat our vines with care so they do not experience any undue stress. We only serve to nurture the vines so that the wine produced is a true expression of the terroir.

History
Château Saint-Fort de Lisse is located on the slopes of Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, a small village within the Saint Emilion appellation. Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse is the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman oppidium (hill fort) on the Niord plateau. Chateau Saint-Fort de Lisse is built at the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa.
The church of Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse dates from the 12th century and Château Pressac (also in the village) is the location for the signing of the treaty that ended the 100 years war. More info…
