Why We Are Different

As a small artisanal winemaker, each vintage is unique and an expression of a variety of influences for that year – soil, weather, and aging are critical.

We follow a strict process from start to finish to produce all organic wines. Respect for the environment and sustainability are of utmost importance for our team through all winemaking stages.  Our organic farming method is based on environmental practices that improve soil quality and achieve biodiversity through the exclusion of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.  Click here to learn more about the Agriculture Biologique certification (in French).

Our wines are a blend of primarily two traditional Bordeaux varietals, merlot and cabernet franc. Our vines have an average age of 25 years. We use stainless steel and oak barrels producing an average of 5000 bottles each year.

VintageTasting Notes
2015Extremely warm and dry growing season. Wine is highly concentrated and has great aging potential.
2016The season began with a lot of rain, followed by late summer heat. Heavier use of cabernet franc led to great structure. Should be held.
2017Overall warm and dry, with some spring frost. Mid-summer was somewhat cloudy providing freshness and acidity to the berries. Not highly tannic. Ready to drink now.
2018A cool and rainy spring followed by a hot and dry summer. The combination resulted in a very fresh and fruit-forward wine, which should age nicely.
2019Season began with a lot of rain, followed by late summer heat. Heavier use of cabernet franc led to great structure. This is also our first vintage which included a special cuvée made of grapes grown and harvested at Clos Pressac. We also introduced Les Modillons into our collection. Ready to drink 2023 – 2043.
2020A cool and rainy spring followed by a hot and dry summer. The combination resulted in a very fresh and fruit forward wine, which should age nicely.
2021An extremely challenging year with an early frost followed by damp conditions in the vineyard. Extremely low yield, but a unique vintage that is still developing its flavor profile.
2022Another challenging year, yet shows amazing potential. A very hot summer and drought conditions with rain arriving just before the harvest. A high yield is not expected, but an exceptionally concentrated and complex vintage should result.
Tisane de SeptembreCreated to pay homage to Louis François Armand de Vigneron du Plessis, Duc de Richelieu (1696-1788), who was appointed Governor of Guyenne and Gascogne. He introduced Bordeaux wine to the court of Versailles which many called Tisane (Herbal Tea) de Maréchal for its rejuvenation properties. September is often the month of the annual harvest.
